James Ruot Biel
Programs Manager (Health)
Dr. James Ruot is a medical doctor and public health expert with over 10 years of experience managing health and nutrition programs and leading humanitarian responses across South Sudan. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBSS) and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, with a focus on health systems strengthening, health policy, and management.
Dr. Ruot has worked with several prominent international organizations and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of South Sudan. His extensive experience bridges both public and non-governmental sectors, enhancing his ability to design and implement context-specific interventions.
In his current role with the Coalition for Humanity, Dr. Ruot manages health and nutrition projects—ranging from emergency to development-focused interventions funded by the World Bank, USAID/BHA, SSHF, and various UN agencies. These projects provide lifesaving primary healthcare and nutrition services to host communities, internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, and refugees. He leads mobile outreach teams, supports immunization and nutrition services, and spearheads the training of frontline healthcare workers. He also coordinates closely with government counterparts and humanitarian partners to strengthen local health systems.
