Protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
We place immense emphasis on protection, especially prevention and response to GBV, in humanitarian and development work.
Our program supports women, girls, children, and other at-risk groups through a mix of life-saving services, capacity building, and community-based protection systems. CH operates Women and Girls Friendly Spaces (WGFS) in multiple counties, providing safe environments for case management, psychosocial support, referrals, legal counselling, and empowerment activities. We also train health workers, social workers, and local authorities in GBV response, child protection, and housing, land, and property (HLP) rights.
We address the root causes of GBV by implementing Social Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) strategies, including Engaging Men in Accountable Practices (EMAP) to shift harmful gender norms and encourage community-led prevention. We aim to reduce harm, build resilience, and promote gender equality.
