Protection, Women Empowerment

and Gender-Based Violence (GBV)

Violence and intimidation against women affect the general well-being of the society as it translates into a greater portion of the population failing to meaningfully participate in the society. This intimidation, mostly manifesting as gender discrimination and gender-based violence has tremendous implication on livelihood, from greater strains on health care and social services to lack peaceful co-existence and losses in productivity.

The Coalition for Humanity seeks to provide life-saving GBV prevention, response and risk mitigation activities within the established Women and Girls Friendly Spaces (WGFS) and nearby locations by offering quality case management, psychosocial support, counselling and referral pathways and achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls through;

  • Reducing all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere.
  • Reducing all forms of violence against all women and girls in the public and private spheres, including trafficking, sexual, and other types of exploitation.
  • Eliminating all harmful practices, such as child, early and forced marriage and female genital mutilation.
  • Improving women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision making in political, economic and public life.

So far, we have reached over 2,600 people with behavioural change communication and GBV education.

  • We have established 3 women and girls friendly centre to drive GBV response and women and girls empowerment.
  • We have impacted 1300 women and girls in the women and girls’ friendly centres.
  • We have incorporated men in ‘engaging men in accountable practices (EMAP)’ programs to drive behavioural change.
  • We have built the capacity of community champions to drive awareness on the need to end GBV and meaningfully include women in key societal matters.
